Shark HyperAIR Hair Dryer Review On Wavy Hair

June 2, 2023 by Emily Evert Leave a Comment

In wavy and curly hair communities, there are two hair dryers that most people talk about wanting. One is the Dyson Supersonic, which I did a Dyson Supersonic On Wavy Hair review of a long time ago. The Dyson is the most expensive hair dryer out there, and I think generally seen as the best. However, the sometimes people will argue that the Shark is actually just as good, or even better, at a lower price point.

I’ve always wondered if the Shark really could be as good or even better than the Dyson, given that it sells for about half the cost. In my Dyson review I shared how I don’t love the diffuser attachment that comes with the Dyson. As someone with wavy hair, the diffuser is a big deal as I use it each time I do my hair. Plus, the Dyson is designed to have magnetic attachments, so diffusers or attachments from other blow dryers don’t work with it unless you get really creative with finding a way to make the attachment stay in place.

The Shark HyperAIR comes with a diffuser that I thought looked a lot better, which was one of the top reasons I was interested in trying the dryer. I didn’t want to pay full price for it, but I watched eBay until I found a working model that was around $60 shipped and jumped on that! I did make sure that it was real and not a knockoff.

Lazy Curly Girl Method Routine For Wavy Hair

August 5, 2022 by Emily Evert 7 Comments

  • What is the easiest wavy hair routine?
  • Do you have any advice for how to do the curly girl method if you don’t have much time to do your hair?
  • What can I do with my hair on days where I am really busy?
  • I am a mom of two under two and I can’t spend an hour on my hair on wash day. Do you have tips for how to do this in as little time as possible?
  • I have a chronic illness. Do you have a routine that I might be able to do on a low spoons day?

These are all samples of a type of question I’ve received that in my mind, ultimately boil down to “How can I embrace my wavy hair with less effort or less time?”

Let me add the disclaimer that I am not saying that opting for a lower maintenance or less time-consuming routine means you are being lazy. I used that in the title because it’s a way that people commonly describe easier hair routines, and I thought it would help people find this post. There are endless reasons why you may choose to go for a routine that is simpler or faster, ad there is no shame in any of those reasons in my opinion. Nobody should feel obligated to spend a lot of time on their hair in my opinion!

Anyway, back to the topic of so-called lazy wavy hair routines. I didn’t feel great about my answer to people who were asking me for quicker or easier hair routines until recently.

Over the last several weeks, I’ve been trying to find a routine that took less of my time, but gave me results I was comfortable with. I’ve found a routine that I’m shockingly happy with. I started out trying to find a routine that might be “acceptable” for people who needed or wanted an easier route, but I expected to have to sacrifice the tightness of my wavy curls quite a bit.

In the past I had tried to compare air drying and diffusing, and my air drying results were never satisfying to me. I’ve always felt like I pretty much have to diffuse my hair to near-dry to get results I was happy with. That isn’t the case, though!

How To Do The Curly Girl Method When You Shower At Night

June 15, 2022 by Emily Evert 5 Comments

I’ve had people ask me if they have to shower in the morning if they want to follow the curly girl method or otherwise embrace their natural waves or curls. Nope! You can shower at night. It does take some additional planning, though.

I have always preferred to shower at night (I am not a fan of waking up earlier to shower and do my hair!) so I can share how I make it work! Well, this is what I do on ‘regular’ wash days anyway. Sometimes when I’m doing blog posts for this blog I will do my hair differently for the sake of a blog post.

The Best Diffuser For Wavy Hair | 5 Diffusers Compared (W/ Pics)

If you’ve been around my blog much at all, you likely know that I am all about diffusing. My hair holds onto water for hours if I try to air dry. I get much better results from diffusing, and it keeps me from waiting around all day on my hair to dry!

Something I’ve occasionally been asked in comments is what I think the best diffuser is. Until a few months ago, I had only ever used one diffuser, the Xtava black orchid. I bought it because it was recommended by a YouTuber I followed, so I bought it and liked it and stuck with it.

For Christmas, my boyfriend bought me the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer. It comes with is own diffuser and the Xtava isn’t compatible with it, so using the Dyson brand diffuser was my first time trying a new type of diffuser.

After that, I got curious about other diffusers. I ordered a few other diffusers on Amazon (ones that I saw were most frequently purchased) to learn more about differences in diffusers, and so I could do this post for you guys!

I Tested 5 popular hair diffusers on my wavy hair to find out what the best diffuser for wavy hair is!

In an attempt to keep my comparisons similar, I used the same hair products each time that I tested a new diffuser. I also attempted to use the same product styling techniques and styling routine. This way, hopefully any changes in results I got on different days could be attributed to the diffuser.
